Our attorneys have also successfully represented schools before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Commonwealth Court, other state and federal courts and the Charter School Appeal Board (CAB). We routinely represent clients in a variety of administrative proceedings, including expulsion hearings and special education Due Process hearings. Our clients vary from schools in the beginning stages of organization to schools seeking renewals of their initial charters.
Our office routinely conducts trainings for Board members, administrators, professional employees and contractors about essential legal requirements, changes to the law and the practical application of law to operations and policy. Focus areas of trainings include: overview of Public School Code provisions, School Law compliance, the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act, and compliance with the Right-to-Know Act, Prevailing Wages, Public Bidding, Special Education and Section 504 compliance, Labor & Employment matters, Student Discipline and Safety, as well as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We also provide ethics training for Board members targeted for their compliance with applicable law.
