March 27, 2020
This is an update regarding the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“Act”). As a reminder, the employers covered by this new Act include local educational agencies such as charter schools (generally regardless of the number of employees) as well as other employers with “fewer than 500 employees.”
In addition to the new leave obligations it imposes, the Act requires covered employers to post the newly-issued notice that was released on March 25, 2020. The notice posting requirements under the Act are as follows:
“ . . . Each employer shall post and keep posted, in conspicuous places on the premises of the employer where notices to employees are customarily posted, a notice, to be prepared or approved by the Secretary of Labor, of the requirements described in this Act.”
A copy of the required notice is attached to this communication and is also available here: https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/posters/FFCRA_Poster_WH1422_Non-Federal.pdf.
Please contact our firm with any questions relating to the notice posting requirement.
